Today, the Virginia Young Democrats (VAYD) are excited to announce the launch of a Chapter Mentorship Program. This program will connect VAYD’s smaller chapters with experienced and qualified mentors who can assist with all aspects of chapter growth, including membership, finances, communications, and campaign operations.

The Virginia Young Democrats released the following statment on the murder of George Floyd:

Pride month is, first and foremost, an opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate our identity and to state loudly and clearly that we are here. And we have much to celebrate. The last 10 years have seen more progress on LGBTQ+ rights than we saw in the 40 years prior to that. Same-sex marriage was legalized, ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ was repealed, and more companies than ever have adopted LGBTQ-inclusive policies, ensuring that queer people can go to work and feel welcome. So much progress has been made, and we should recognize and celebrate that at Pride events everywhere. 

The Democratic Party of Virginia will host the Blue Commonwealth Gala on Saturday, June 15th, at the historic Richmond Main Street Station. More information is available here. 

Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Senator Amy Klobuchar will speak alongside many great officials from across Virginia. The event is Virginia’s premier gathering of elected officials, candidates, community activists, and Democratic Party leaders.
