Virginia Young Voter Revolution Campaign Director
Position: Virginia Young Voter Revolution Campaign Director
Location: Richmond, Virginia (Potential exists for the right candidate to be headquartered in Fairfax or Virginia Beach/Norfolk.)
Job Description: The State Campaign Director reports directly to the YDA National Political Director and works at YDA’s state field office. The Campaign Director is responsible for the overall implementation and management of the Young Voter Revolution Campaign in Virginia. The Young Voter Revolution is a peer-to-peer voter contact campaign targeting voters under the age of 36. This position serves through November 2008.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
-Recruiting, hiring, training, and managing the state’s team of field organizers, canvassers, campus directors, and online organizers.
-Building and managing coalitions with other state organizations while creating a Youth Vote Coordinated Table.
-Overseeing and coordinating campaign budget and timeline.
-Implementing evaluation program to measure impact of the campaign’s voter outreach strategies and tactics.
-Providing regular program and performance reports throughout the campaign to both YDA and VAYD Executive Board.
-Attending post-election debrief and provide final state report to national staff.
-Representing YDA and the Virginia Young Democrats at the Virginia America Votes table, other state-based coordinating tables, and the Democratic Party Coordinated table.
Qualifications: Applicants must have at least one cycle’s professional experience in a campaign leadership position (partisan preferred), proficiency with online voter files (VAN preferred) and targeting, and experience managing staff. Grassroots organizing experience and online organizing experience is helpful, but not required. Youth organizing experience (professional or volunteer) is a significant plus.
Applicants should be detail-oriented, comfortable with multi-tasking, and able to work in a fast-paced office environment. Strong oral and written communications skills are required. This position requires frequent in-state travel. Minorities and women are strongly encouraged to apply.
Salary and Benefits: $2,500 - $3,000 / month (through November 2008), fully covered health insurance and cell phone reimbursement of $75 per month.
There is the potential for a successful campaign director to remain on staff post-Election Day to manage the 2009 Young Voter Revolution Campaign.
