Update from the Young Democrats of America Conference in Anaheim, California

Last weekend, Young Dems from all over the country gathered in Anaheim, CA, the home of Disneyland, for the YDA conference. Nine Virginia Young Democrats attended the event, including the two of us.
On Friday, we heard from Local 681, a union of Disney hotel workers, who were picketing Disney Hotel management demanding that management keep paying the full value of their health care. On Saturday afternoon, hundreds of YDs and union members joined together in picketing the Disney hotel headquarters.
It was an amazing experience to be in a picket line fighting for workers' rights! We also heard from some of the members of the Writer's Guild Assocation about how their recent strike has made historical change in their industry.
Throughout the conference, several trainings were offered,specializing in chapter building, fundraising, media training and DEMopolis (YDA's online organizing program). VAYD representatives participated in these trainings.
On Sunday, the National Committee met to get some work done! Among the many things we voted on, we presented some resolutions and we approved the new veterans and military issues caucus.
We would like to thank the California Young Democrats for hosting such a great conference. We look forward to our Spring Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee!
