Fresh on the heels of Creigh Deed's successful Deeds Country tour across rural Virginia, Republican Bob McDonnell has started traveling around the state unveiling his proposals. Just yesterday, the Republican candidate made a stop in Henry County to unveil a rural jobs creation plan that is, to put it kindly, a day late and a dollar short for the hard-working men and women of Virginia.
House Minority Leader Ward Armstrong and State Senator Roscoe Reynolds, in a conference call with media yesterday, highlighted Bob McDonnell's lacking record of support for Virginia's workers including three votes by McDonnell to slash the Governor's Opportunity Fund (used to attract employers to the state), as well as Bob's vote against support for out-of-work employees of the Tultex Corporation in Southside.
Senator Deeds, by contrast, has patroned legislation to revamp the Governor's Opportunity Fund in the past, and stood with other members of the House of Delegates and State Senate during the past legislative session in support of accepting federal stimulus funds.
Delegate Armstrong put it best, saying, "I have found it very disengious that Bob would come to town and all of sudden in the last 15 minutes he's very interested in the economic health of Virginia. Where you been Bob?"
