Description: The Virginia Young Democrats have an ambitious agenda for 2010. The organization plans to impact the legislative and electoral process through a variety of programs. These programs must be publicized in a way that allows the organization and its members to gain recognition, recruit members, and satisfy donors. Additionally, VAYD must aggressively recruit and retain new donors to fund its program.
There is 1 communications fellowship and 1 finance fellowship position available. Each comes with a $500 monthly stipend. Candidates must be able to commit to no less than 20 hours per week, January 19 - May 4. Any questions should be emailed to Toby.Quaranta@vayd.org.
Candidates for a fellowship will ideally be part- or full-time students who can dedicate approximately 20 hours per week. This work will be based in a VAYD office, and the positions are based in either Richmond or Northern Virginia. Responsibilities for the Communications Fellow include, but are not limited to, writing and editing press releases, developing thorough press list, developing relationships with individual reporters, assist managing the overall communications plan, managing the VAYD blog, Twitter & Flickr Account, Facebook fan page, and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities of the Finance Fellow will include researching new donors, assisting local organizers and chapters with fundraising events, assist the implementation of the overall finance plan, and other duties as assigned
